Govt. of India after due consideration has implemented a new scheme likely Construction of check Dam under MGNREGA for Agricultural support to the farmers. Accordingly, as per the demand of the locality and feasibility on hydraulic parameter a check dam with improvement of WHS namely Improvement of Water Harvesting Structure at Kamalapadar has been approved with an estimated cost Rs 8.00 Lakh during the year 2015-16. During the construction of project, all the formalities under MGNREGS guideline was followed and initial photograph of the proposed site is was taken up to know the status of the construction site as well as wage material ratio i.e. 40:60 was followed during construction.
The existing Water Harvesting Structure is used for the purpose of impounding water at the upper stream of the Check dam, so as to facilitate the farmers of the vicinity area providing irrigation facility for their standing crops during Drought. The work has been completed and handed over to the leader of water user committee. All technical measure for structural safety are adopted during construction. 35 no of farmers are enjoying the benefit by using the water for their crops like Paddy in both Kharif and Rabi and different type of vegetable in 80 acres of land.
The water table of surrounding area has been raised. As a result the dug well /tube well and Bathing tanks has been recharged for domestic utilization of the water. On the other hand, about 1800 mandays of 50nos of Families has been the provided employment under the on the MGNREGA scheme. The Check dam now in the stage of spilling surplus water during unexpected rain. Hence, the surrounding area now became green and pleasant environment has been created during the peak period of Summer. |
