Construction of roof top rain water harvesting structure

Name of the project- Construction of roof top rain water harvesting structure with storage facility of 10nos of BPGY houses. Estimated cost- Rs 1,50,000.00 Expenditure- 1,50,000.00 Scheme- MGNREGA 2019-20 Location- Tikarpada village Gp- Kailashpur Block-Kolnara Dist-Rayagada Odisha. Year of start-2019-20 Year of completion- 2020-21 Status of the project- complete. Before, the village is situated in a remote hill top area. About 10 nos of BPGY houses were constructed under rurah housing scheme. There was severe scarcity of water during summer season. The tube well can’t supply sufficient water during summer season due to severe down fall of water table in the ground. After- after the construction of this project the villagers are getting sufficient stored rain water for their miscellaneous use. The underground water is recharged by the water coming from the roof of the 10nos of houses during rain. So 10 nos of well ring recharge pits have been constructed for recharge of ground water. A 10000 lt storage tank with tube well at top has been provided for day to day use of rain water for miscellaneous use other than drinking. Paver blocks have been provided in the inspection roads. The sand, charcoal and hg chips filter media filters the roof water and stores to the filter water in the storage tank. The villagers r quite happy as their water demand could be met due to this project.
