Check dam at Garabganda of Karadakana GP(HIramba Nala-1)
A small village namely Garabaganda situated in a remote area of Karadakana GP under Sheragada Block having population 150 of ST inhabitants.
Under new scheme i.e.Check dam which has been implemented by Govt of India under MGNREGA during the year 2011-12 keeping in view of drought mitigation programme the work is being under taken.
A barrier constructed across the small local perennial nala having a bed width of 5m and crest height of 1.00m. At down stream a water cushion for energy dissipated at low velocity has also been provided.
At down stream & at upstream sides cut of wall has also been provided to encounter the structural safety.
The entire structure is taken up with massive cement concrete work. Regarding wage material ratio which comes to 20:80.
The main aim is to impound water for recharging water table and providing irrigation to the agricultural field to a extend of 20 hectors during draught situations.
The local public are extremely happy for the immediate benefit under the scheme.

BLOCK LEVEL PUBLIC HEARING UNDER MGNREGS OF ODAGAON BLOCK

The Block level Public Hearing under MGNREGS of Odagaon Block Nayagarh District was conducted on 23.11.2011 at 10.30 A.M. in the Conference Hall of Odagaon Panchayat Samiti. Sri Debendra Prasad Das, OAS-I (Supertime), Project Director, DRDA Nayagarh has presided over the Block Level Public Hearing . Sri Kamaljit Das, (OAS-I), Block Development Officer, Odagaon presented the detailed status of MGNREGS in Odagaon Block during the financial year 2011-12. He stated that Rs. 82727552/- of fund received till date during the period, 481614 person days generated, 27068 Job Cards issued, 11287 household demanded for work & 100% of Job provided to the job card holders . 165 families completed 100 days of work. No unemployment allowance paid to the opinion of the PRI Members, NGO representative, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineers, GPTAs & all the job holders present in that meeting. A thorough discussion regarding the positive & negative aspects of MGNREGS as well as the problems & prospects of Odagaon Panchayat Samiti relating to MGNREGS was made. Zilla Prasishad Members, Sarapanches & Panchayat Samiti Members express their concern on delayed payment. An allegation came from Nandighore GP about the use of JCB machine , tractors in MGNREGS work. The Project Director, DRDA, Nayagarh, Block Development Officer, Odagaon as well as the Additional Programme Officer clarified that inquiry has been conducted about the said case later on it was disproved. The Project Director, DRDA, Nayagarh, BDO, Odagaon directed the Junior Engineers, GPTAs & VLWs that no machine will be used in the MGNREGS work.

Sri Rajendra Prasad Panda, Addl. Block Development officer, Odagaon, Sri Mahadev Dakua, DFO, Khurdha were also present in Public Hearing & started their opinion regarding the progress of MGNREGS work.

Debi Prasad arranged his food for survival through Multipurpose farm Pond
Debi Prasad Barge (35) a inhabitant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Nuniapali village of Agalpur Block in Bolangir district, became who is also included in Below Poverty Line (BPL) for his poor and vulnerable conditions became physically disabled after suffering from “Pathuri” diseas. After this situation, the situation made him solely dependent on his father and elder brother for his survival. His father Sri Pitambars Barge distributed the land whatever with him to his three sons including Debi Prasad and requested his elder son to take care of Debi Prasad.
One day his elder brother Kalakhanu (45) heard about the Multi Purpose Farm Pond initiatives under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and discussed with Debi Prasad to apply for. The then in charge Fishery Officer along with the Multi Purpose Assistant visited Nuniapali and completed the formalities to enable Debi Prasad avail benefit of multipurpose farm pond to cater to his survival.
The farm pond was sanctioned to Debi Prasad (422/2010, 07/06/2010) and was allotted Rs. 1.6 Lakh. The farm pond was dug with involvement of other villagers along with their family members.
After completion of the project Debi Prasad was linked with Fishery Department and started fish fry stocking with the help of his elder brother.
His journey of success does not end here. Debi Prasad’s father and elder brother are committed to benefit optimally from the multipurpose farm pond through banana cultivation along with the vegetable garden. The other neighboring farmers are also benefitted from the multipurpose farm pond at the time of drought like situation. They take water for their paddy field during emergency.
“The farm pond has come to Debi Prasad as a blessing which will let him survive even after my death. I was afraid whether my elder son will take care of Debi Prasad after my death. But, now I feel, Debi Prasad has an asset which can feed him on later days”, says his father.

Improvement of fatebandha road
This road is connecting from village Bahalda to Nesha nallah. One PCB was constructed on Nesha nallah by this panchayat samit during the finace year 2004-05 for storage of water in the nallah. So the Villagers are passing on this road to use the water of that PCB and during the harvesting session, people are using this road for carrying their yeild. Before construction of this road people were suffering a lot. People are also using this road to go to the village Jharagaon. View Details
